General Description

This position may be filled as an Occupation Therapist Level I, II, or III, depending on individual qualifications, experience, and business need.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Interpret a physician’s referral and select an appropriate standardized evaluation procedure
  • Evaluate patient in the following areas: independent living skills, occupational performance, prevocational work adjustment, educational skills, play-leisure abilities, social skills and various psychosocial skills
  • Interpret the data and develop a treatment plan involving short and long term goals, frequency and duration of treatment
  • Assist patient in carrying out these procedures through the design and fabrication of adaptive equipment and orthotic devices, joint protection and body mechanics
  • Inform patient and family goals and progress
  • Assist with discharge planning by ordering equipment and instructing patient on home therapy plan
  • May supervise students

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Experience: None
  • Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:
    • Current license from the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision as an Occupational Therapist OR eligible to sit for the exam
    • License must be obtained within six (6) months of hire
    • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional occupational therapy and the materials and supplies utilized in the program
  • Skill in organizing and instructing occupational therapy activities
  • Ability to interpret prescriptions related to therapy needed
  • Good interpersonal skills in establishing effective working relations with staff
  • Ability to communicate instructions and technical information to patients
  • Some computer skills
