About the Role

This position is accountable for providing occupational therapy services to patients, including assessment, treatment, program planning and implementation, related documentation, communication with other disciplines and services, and staff supervision as agreed. Staff may care for all age groups from infants to elderly and must be aware of developmental needs over the life span and the appropriate equipment for all ages. This position demonstrates a commitment to quality service for patients, the public, and co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients for goal setting, treatment planning, and implementation of the Plan of Care (POC).
  • Records and documents patient evaluation, treatment, and progress to accurately reflect services provided and patient performance.
  • Supervises therapy personnel and students as assigned.
  • Stays current on new programs and treatments and participates in special projects in the occupational therapy field.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional PM&R Team Leader Duties

  • Leads department-specific staff meetings and huddles in collaboration with the Manager.
  • Manages daily operational activities related to the departmental budget (e.g., ordering supplies, linen).
  • Provides coaching and mentoring as needed.
  • Assists with performance appraisals and the disciplinary process in conjunction with the manager as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program.
  • Passed NBCOT examination.
  • Current Virginia State licensure required.
  • AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
  • Professional competency as a general practitioner as defined by the American Occupational Therapy Association.

PM&R Team Leader Qualifications

  • Successful performance appraisal and a strong commitment to the organization.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical PM&R experience.
  • Team-oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking, facilitation, resolution, and time management skills.
  • Must be a full-time associate (.9 or higher).
  • Exemplary customer service and a positive attitude.

OT - License Applicant Qualifications (MWH-Pediatric Therapy)

  • Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy education program within the last six months.
  • This designation shall not be used beyond six months of graduation or by applicants who have received a failing score on any examination required by the Board for licensure.
  • Must work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.

Physical Requirements

  • Constant (67-100% of workday) walking, standing, use of arms and hands.
  • Frequent (34-66% of workday) bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Ability to push and pull 20 lbs.
  • Auditory and visual skills, including color determination.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and reach above/overhead.

Mental Requirements

  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Capacity to cope with difficult situations.
  • Ability to tolerate irregular hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends.

Environmental Requirements and Exposure Hazards

  • Potential risk of exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals.
  • Potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens; must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Clinical positions in Mary Washington Home Health and/or Hospice must also meet driving requirements.

Pay

Pay Range: $45.65 - $68.48 per hour.
