Occupational Therapist (OT)

About the role

The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides direct rehabilitation care in occupational therapy within a skilled nursing facility setting, focusing on long-term care and short-term rehabilitation for a diverse patient population with orthopedic, neurological, and cardiopulmonary needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and modify patient treatment plans to improve functional outcomes.
• Assess patient needs, set realistic goals, and evaluate progress.
• Supervise and evaluate work of OTAs, Rehab Aides, and students.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using therapy software.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with patients and families.
• Ensure safety, patient rights, and confidentiality at all times.
• Participate in community health initiatives as appropriate.
• Perform manual tasks including lifting, bending, and moving patients safely.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited occupational therapy program (BSOT or MSOT).
• Current licensure and registration in applicable state; NBCOT certification (renewal optional).
• CPR certification (current or obtained during orientation).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication.
• Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and adherence to ethical standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating good judgment and decision-making skills.
