Occupational Therapist (OT) 13 Week Contract

13-week, full-time contract at $50 per hour with weekly pay. One-on-one therapist-to-patient care with autonomy in the field. Local travel throughout Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester Counties.

About the role

Provide personalized therapy that helps patients regain their independence and safely perform everyday activities in the comfort of their homes. This is a contract position requiring at least one year of home health experience. The selected OT must be confident, independent, and prepared to manage patients with limited orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy to patients who have difficulty performing daily activities due to an illness or injury.
• Perform comprehensive assessments, identify functional deficits, establish therapy goals, and document patient progress.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on each patient’s needs and goals.
• Work independently while collaborating with the home health team, which may include RNs, LPNs, CNAs, HHAs, PTs, and SLPs.
• Help patients improve fine motor skills, strength, mobility, and coordination.
• Recommend adaptive equipment, including grab bars, shower chairs, and other supportive devices.
• Assess fall risks and implement strategies to improve safety within the home.
• Educate patients and families about the plan of care, exercises, goals, safety, and self-care.
• Complete accurate, thorough, and timely clinical documentation.
• Provide services in accordance with agency policies and all applicable regulations governing the scope of practice.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
• Current, active Occupational Therapist license in good standing in South Carolina.
• At least one year of occupational therapy experience in a home health setting is required.
• Must be able to work independently and transition into the role with limited orientation.
• Strong documentation and time-management skills.
• Tech-savvy and proficient in navigating electronic medical record systems.
• Knowledge of state and federal home health regulations.
• Strong clinical judgment, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving abilities.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance.
• Compassionate, dependable, and resourceful.
