About the role

We are seeking an experienced Outpatient Hand Therapist with specialized expertise in hand therapy. In this role, you will evaluate and treat patients with upper extremity conditions, including post-operative rehabilitation, helping them regain function, improve mobility, and return to their daily activities with greater independence.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations
  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions
  • Educate patients on home exercise programs and self-care techniques
  • Recommend ongoing treatment plans and next steps in care
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in EPIC
  • Assess patients' ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills
  • Design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment
  • Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities
  • Document subjective and objective findings of patient progress
  • Monitor and modify the plan of care as needed
  • Seek consultation as necessary
  • Provide information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs
  • Oversee the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians according to established licensing laws, state regulations and OT practice standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Program accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association
  • Current Ohio licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in a clinical area
  • Hand therapy experience
  • Certified in Hand therapy
  • 3-5 years of Outpatient experience
  • Physical Requirements

    • Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.
    • Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
    • Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
    • Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
    • Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.
    • Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
    • Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.

    Pay Range

    Minimum hourly: $50.00 Maximum hourly: $50.00 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
