Occupational Therapist - Hand Therapist
About the Role
We are seeking a 40-hour Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) or a therapist preparing for CHT certification to join our hand therapy practice at MGH in Boston, MA. Our team of 10 experienced CHTs collaboratively delivers exceptional care. The ideal candidate will have advanced skills in managing patients with hand and upper extremity diagnoses, using therapeutic techniques to restore physical function and promote patient independence in daily activities.
Our clinic serves both scheduled appointments and walk-in patients from MD visits, requiring evidence-based clinical reasoning and advanced treatment skills, including splinting. We offer ongoing mentorship, opportunities for clinical growth through internal continuing education, and substantial personal CE funding for conferences. CHTs may also participate in program planning, protocol development, and assist in covering other locations if needed.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments of patients' physical, cognitive, and functional abilities to determine appropriate therapy interventions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address patients' needs and goals.
- Provide ongoing therapy services, including manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, functional training, and modalities.
- Supervise and mentor other occupational therapists to ensure high-quality care and adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals (physicians, nurses, social workers) to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient progress and treatment plans.
- Participate in professional development and stay current with advances in occupational therapy research and practice.
- Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives as needed.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (required).
- Occupational Therapist State License (required).
- 3–5 years of occupational therapist experience (required).
- 3–5 years of experience in a residential/assisted living or skilled nursing facility (preferred).
- Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) or actively preparing for CHT certification.

Pay
Annual salary range: $90,000 – $119,787.
Schedule
