About the role
The Occupational Therapist evaluates, plans, and delivers treatment programs to patients with injuries or diseases affecting daily functioning, in settings such as inpatient, outpatient, or home care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments across all age groups
- Establish patient-centered goals and implement individualized treatment plans
- Evaluate patient progress and adjust interventions as needed
- Recommend and instruct on adaptive equipment and assistive technology
- Design, fabricate, and fit orthotic devices
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, and therapists
- Provide patient and caregiver education on therapeutic techniques and home programs
- Participate in discharge planning and transition of care
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
- Ensure safety standards and infection control protocols are maintained
- Provide clinical supervision to occupational therapy assistants and students
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and program development
- Maintain professional development through continuing education and evidence-based practice
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Current New York State licensure as an Occupational Therapist
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to travel within the assigned region
