Job Description

The Therapist I supports Valley Health's mission and vision by providing high-quality, best-practice service to customers. They work in various rehab settings, are part of an interdisciplinary team, respond to physician referrals, assess patient needs, and provide specific interventions to enhance safety and independence.

Feedback from the Therapist I is crucial for determining patient progress and recommending next steps in care. They maintain professional competence, identify learning needs, and seek out opportunities for growth. Responsibilities may include:

• Supporting interdisciplinary teams
• Responding to physician referrals
• Determining skilled and medically necessary needs
• Providing discipline-specific interventions
• Maintaining professional competence
• Identifying and seeking learning opportunities
• Ensuring timely and efficient service delivery
• Adhering to licensure, documentation, and billing guidelines
• Recognizing and addressing need for program development and process improvement

Qualifications

• Post-graduate certificate, bachelor's, or master's degree in occupational therapy
• OT license - Virginia/West Virginia licensure or transitional license at time of hire required
• BLS Certification (American Heart 'Healthcare Provider') - AHA approved required
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills or participation in training within the first year of employment
• Competence to interact with patients based on their special needs
• Proficiency in providing discipline-specific interventions

Requires physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job, including but not limited to: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing stairs, and operating medical equipment.
