Island Health is offering a $10,000 sign on bonus for an experienced Occupational Therapist for their Rehabilitation Services department at their hospital in Anacortes, WA.
About the Role
As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in the department and will be responsible for the clinical evaluation, development, and administration of appropriate occupational therapy patient care.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and can identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs.
- Assumes all responsibilities of a staff occupational therapist by providing direct patient care.
- Evaluates patient's conditions, requirements, and knowledge level; cooperates with the physician and patient/significant other in determining appropriate occupational therapy treatment.
- Develops treatment plan and goals.
- Performs prescribed treatments of outpatient and/or inpatients.
- Affords assistance in training personnel in occupational therapy methods and techniques and in supervising aides and assistants in their activities.
- Establishes and documents the patient's plan in the treatment record after each occupational therapy treatment according to established standards.
- Participates in communication and problem solving with patient/significant other, health team members, and other departments.
- Evaluates patient outcome and coordinates discharge of patient from occupational therapy.
- Possesses knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement principles and supports Physical Occupational Speech Therapy philosophy of performance improvement.
- Gives input to annual budget, goals, and department policies and procedures.
- Participates in educational or professional meetings and continuing education/in-services relating to occupational therapy.
- May develop and implement specialty area programs and perform other activities as assigned by the Director.
Requirements
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills consistent with Island Hospital’s mission, vision, values, and Promise.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment and build positive working relationships with physicians, clinicians, leaders, and staff.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care, service excellence, and compassionate communication with patients and families.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of hands-on experience within a clinical or similar setting preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Graduate from an AOTA approved or accredited program.
- Current OT license issued by the WA Department of Health.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification.
