Occupational Therapist - Contractor

Using a parent educational model in the Early Intervention program, an Occupational Therapist will help clients develop or regain physical or mental functioning by implementing programs to improve daily living and sensory motor activities. Additional administrative duties may be required in support of program goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

• Develops ideas, plans, and procedures for initiation, expansion, improvement, and evaluation of therapy programs.
• Completes initial evaluations (MDT’s), re-evaluations, and consultations for patients in the program; examines patient conditions and analyzes their needs; determines the need for occupational therapy evaluation and selects and administers appropriate assessment tools.
• Prepares reports and attends multidisciplinary case meetings to decide and review continuing treatment.
• Maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and agency system policy; adheres to federal and state regulations and policies affecting occupational therapy practice.
• Participates in continuing education for professional development to ensure practice consistent with best practices and to meet Nevada licensure requirements.
• Participates in monthly staff meetings and attends staff trainings.
• Case assignments will be dictated by Capability Health’s needs in Early Intervention, including feeding cases.
• Interprets evaluation data and writes comprehensive reports reflecting strengths and barriers to client participation; directs program development and guides evidence-based intervention.
• Uses professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision-making.
• Performs program promotional hours to grow the North Early Intervention program (e.g., visiting pediatric offices, therapy clinics, daycares, hospitals). Promotional hours will change based on caseload.
• Produces a weekly report for the Sr. VP of Operations and CEO regarding promotional hours.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Initial certification by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy.
• Current Occupational Therapy License from the State of Nevada.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children, using knowledge of treatment practices per discipline.
• CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures that mandate and guide occupational therapy in practice.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work in an environment with individuals with severe disabilities who may be developmentally and behaviorally challenged.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion pertaining to the work environment.

• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance if needed.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

Working Conditions

• Up to 75% travel within the service delivery area.
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions in the Reno area, including extreme heat, extreme cold, wind, poor air quality, and wet or humid conditions.

Pay

$80–$100 hourly wage.
