About the role

Evaluates and treats patients with physical, emotional, cognitive and/or psychosocial deficits.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient's ability to safely and effectively perform independent living skills.
• Designs the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
• Implements the treatment plan using appropriate modalities.
• Documents findings of patient progress.
• Monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed; seeks consultation as necessary.
• Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
• Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
• Oversees the care provided by designated individuals according to established regulations and practice standards.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy, or related area as required to obtain licensure in state of practice.
• No prior experience required.
• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification required within 90 days of employment; other resuscitation certifications may be required dependent on department.
• State licensure as an Occupational Therapist:
  • Illinois: Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Missouri: Missouri Division of Professional Registration
  • Oklahoma: Oklahoma Medical Board
  • Wisconsin: Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services

Physical Requirements

• Constant standing.
• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
• Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
• Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more).
• Frequent walking, reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry.
• Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Occasional lifting/moving patients.
• Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships and to identify and distinguish colors.
• Occasional driving.
• Rare crawling.

Schedule

PRN, Day Shift (work as needed). Shift differentials available for night, weekend, and additional shifts.
