About the role

This is a professional position within the Southern Ute Indian Montessori Academy. An employee in this position works with Southern Ute Indian Montessori Academy students in need of occupational therapy services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides direct services to Academy students.
  • Screens/evaluates students to determine individual student learning needs.
  • Determines effective individualized intervention strategies to support student learning.
  • Consults with Academy staff regarding student educational programs and provides education and in-service training for Academy staff.
  • Maintains documentation and a “tracking” file on each student.
  • Compiles, organizes, and submits statistical data for reports and special projects as directed.
  • Credits annual needs assessments for use in determining student progress and direction.
  • Prepares required documents and reports as necessary to include progress reports, annual reports, and end of the year reports.
  • Develops a positive working relationship with students, parents, guides, and school administration.
  • Attends staff meetings and training as requested.
  • Participates in a positive, supportive, and team-oriented environment.
  • Performs other job-related duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • Must have a BA/BS in Occupational Therapy.
  • Must have a National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy.
  • Must have 2 years of experience working with children birth through 13 years of age. Some of the experience must be within an educational setting.
  • Must have experience giving various diagnostic tests in the field of occupational therapy.
  • Must have knowledge and experience with Sensory Integrative Dysfunction.
  • Must have strong computer experience in software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to work varied hours to meet student educational needs.
  • Must pass a thorough background check including Criminal History and fingerprint check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A valid Driver’s License for state of residency and be insurable under the Tribal Vehicle insurance policy.
  • Experience working with Native American Children.
  • The ability to speak and/or learn the Ute Language.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Southern Ute Indian Tribe.
  • TERO preference.
