Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations to assess each child's strengths, challenges, and developmental needs.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation findings.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary team members to establish appropriate therapy goals.
- Design and implement evidence-based occupational therapy treatment plans tailored to each child's unique needs.
- Provide interventions focused on:
- Sensory integration
- Fine motor skill development
- Self-care and activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Play skills
- Social interaction and participation
- Utilize therapeutic techniques that promote independence and functional development.
Family & Team Collaboration
- Educate parents and caregivers on strategies and home programs to reinforce therapy goals.
- Collaborate closely with:
- Speech-Language Pathologists
- Psychologists
- Educators
- Behavioral Therapists
- Other healthcare professionals
Documentation & Progress Monitoring
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, treatment sessions, and patient progress.
- Monitor treatment outcomes and modify therapy plans based on the child's progress and changing needs.
Advocacy & Support
- Provide guidance to families regarding community resources and support services.
- Advocate for the developmental and therapeutic needs of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Qualifications
- Education: Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Licensure & Certification: Current Minnesota Occupational Therapy License (Required), NBCOT Certification (Required).
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of pediatric Occupational Therapy experience, Experience working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) preferred, Experience with Sensory Integration Therapy is highly preferred.
