Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise Occupational Therapy Department staff, including certified staff, assistants, aides, students, and certification applicants.
- Observe and evaluate treatment effectiveness; recommend changes to physicians when appropriate.
- Perform patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and conduct reassessments in accordance with policy.
- Develop and implement teaching plans based on identified learning needs; involve patients and families in the learning process.
- Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in occupational therapy modalities.
- Treat patients and families with respect and dignity; address psychosocial needs as appropriate.
- Manage and operate therapy equipment safely; ensure department cleanliness and safety.
- Collaborate with patients and families in the development of care plans.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and the administrative team.
- Collaborate with other departments to support patient care and performance improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records related to staff and departmental operations.
- Meet all documentation standards and comply with policies.
- Participate in staff education, training, and performance improvement inservices.
- Provide evaluations for certified staff.
Qualifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapist (or eligibility for licensure).
- Strong clinical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
