Responsibilities
- Evaluate students' functional abilities using standardized tests, observations, and interviews.
- Develop comprehensive reports that highlight strengths, barriers, and therapy needs.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to help create or revise Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Design and implement individualized therapy plans to enhance fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, visual perceptual and cognitive skills, as well as self-care and daily living skills.
- Provide engaging direct therapy sessions, both individual and group.
- Audit classroom activities and materials to boost student participation.
- Collaborate with teachers, aides, and parents to seamlessly integrate therapy strategies into the classroom environment.
- Recommend modifications to the school environment to enhance accessibility for all students.
- Train school staff on effective techniques to support students' functional independence.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of student progress and therapy outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with IEP goals and legal requirements.
- Contribute to annual IEP reviews and triennial re-evaluations with enthusiasm!
Required Skills
- Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
- Proven experience in pediatric occupational therapy, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong understanding of standardized testing and assessment tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Ability to create and implement therapy plans tailored to individual student needs.
- Knowledge of IEP processes and legal requirements related to special education.
- Competency in documenting and maintaining detailed records.
- Flexibility and creativity in adapting to diverse learning environments.
