Purpose of Position
To develop, coordinate and implement occupational therapy segment of treatment in coordination with program staff, addressing functional activities, such as goal-oriented therapy to facilitate meaningful independent living; and to provide activities that will assess and help improve the psychosocial, emotional, cognitive and physical functional behavior of patients.
Qualifications
- S18T: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
- Able to read, write, and communicate in English
- Entry level degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution (OT)
- Currently licensed Occupational Therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (NPI)
- Current National Provider Identifier (NPI) registration
- (De-escalation) - Completion of an approved De-escalation Certification Course (obtain within 30 days, offered within)
- (BLS) - Basic Life Support certification (obtain within 60 days of position start, offered within)
- (Preferred) - National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy Certification (NBCOT)
- S19T: For OT Clinical Specialist, must meet all qualifications noted above, as well as the following:
- Serves as a clinical resource for rehabilitation staff in a focused area of clinical expertise
- Plans and conducts treatment programs for patients
- Assists management in the planning, development, organization and supervision of the specified clinical specialty area
Description
- Conduct occupational assessments, sensory needs assessments, reassessments and evaluate patient's current cognitive, functional, interpersonal, intrapersonal and vocational/avocational skills
- Utilizes evaluation methods that are appropriate to the client's age, education, cultural and ethnic background, medical status and functional ability
- Participates in the development of patient's treatment plan, including discharge planning goals, based on information received from assessments
- Guides patient selection of individual tasks or projects which are appropriate to their defined needs and goals, encourages and facilitates patient participation in activities
- Assists and teaches patients in individual and/or group work
- Modifies teaching interventions based on evaluation process
- Maintains accurate and timely records in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Implements interventions, including crisis management procedures, in collaboration with treatment team
- Manage utilization of van and transport patients in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Participates in committees, Quality Assessment and Improvement activities and attends continuing education programs specific to providing psychiatric care for the population being treated
- Complies with all established policies and procedures
- Performs other work-related duties as directed or requested

Schedule Details
32 Hours Per Week, Rotating Days, 8a-4p, Every Other Weekend & Occasional Holidays (16 Hours Inpatient/16 Hours Outpatient)
