Responsibilities
- Provide evaluation and treatment of patients in acute care, nursing home, short-term rehabilitation, and/or outpatient settings.
- Oversee services provided by Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and aides.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary care team; assist in quality improvement and new programming initiative development.
- Maintain licensure by obtaining required CEUs as determined by NYS Practice Act.
- Adhere to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
- Perform comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and safety assessments; identify functional problems requiring occupational therapy intervention.
- Understand and carry out prescribed therapy services as requested by physicians and/or mid-level providers.
- Develop and document a plan of care to promote optimum function and safety.
- Complete all required paperwork and documentation to reflect care provided and outcomes achieved.
- Evaluate and treat the assigned number of patients per day; determine the need for follow-up visits to maximize functional outcomes.
- Maintain current knowledge of insurance regulations related to provision of therapy services.
- Act fiscally responsible in the use and request of supplies and timely submission of patient charges.
- Operate therapy equipment, including safe patient handling equipment, exercise machines, and modalities.
- Coordinate patient care with other clinical team members to ensure optimal communication and care.
- Maintain and enhance personal and professional knowledge; promote professional standards in occupational therapy.
- Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees.
- Promote effective working relations and work effectively as part of a team inter- and intra-departmentally.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university.
- NYS License to practice OT, or a valid temporary permit as per NYSED licensing requirements.
- BLS CPR certification within 6 months of hire.
- Experience as an Occupational Therapist preferred; new graduates will be considered.

Physical Requirements
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
- Occasional: balancing, climbing, crouching, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, fit testing.
- Frequent: typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, kneeling, reaching, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking.
- Constant: hearing.
Hazards: Occasional exposure to bodily fluids/bloodborne pathogens.
Working Conditions: Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures.
Travel: Occasional travel may be required.

Pay
Salary is based on qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation. Pay range: $40.58–$60.87 per hour.
