Qualifications

  • Graduate of an associate degree/two-year Occupational Therapist Assistant Program approved by the Commission for the Accreditation of Occupational Therapist Assistant Education
  • Licensed as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in Texas
  • A person who demonstrates the physical and mental capabilities (practical &/or written, post-training competency test) to perform the duties required of the position
  • A person who can meet the physical demand level of the position
  • Experience Preferred - One (1) year working with pediatrics (birth-21), but will consider recent graduate

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide occupational therapy treatment, instruction, and other related activities to patients as assigned by the attending Occupational Therapist and in strict compliance with the established Plan of Care and per the supervision requirements mandated by state law or payor regulations, whichever is more stringent
  • Report all significant outcomes of patient treatments to the Occupational Therapist for intervention and/or plan of care revision
  • Maintain necessary documentation including daily patient progress notes, home/exercise instructions, and any other support entries allowed by State statute
  • Document the name of the supervising Occupational Therapist per patient as required by State statute
  • Report all patient care activities performed requiring program modification immediately to the Occupational Therapist
  • Assist with and/or carry out routine cleaning, maintenance, and support operations of the clinic’s physical plant, patient care equipment, and supplies in accordance with regulatory standards and EHS policies and procedures
  • Carry out EHS duties as designated by the Director of Clinical Services
  • Comply with the Facility’s Comprehensive Compliance Plan (CCP) which includes but is not limited to: Business & Clinical Operations, Environmental Health & Safety, HIPAA, Human Resources and Code of Conduct as well as all facility policies and procedures and educational requirements associated the CCP
  • Comply with all local, state and federal regulations training and instruction requirements as well as any other standards that govern healthcare services provision
  • Perform other duties as assigned as permitted by law & training

Physical Demand

  • Requires manual dexterity and general strength and endurance
  • Lifting routinely loads of 5-35 pounds from Floor to waist
  • Waist to shoulder – 5-10# for 40-50'
  • Shoulder to overhead – 5-10# for 40-50'
  • Carrying loads of 5-10# for 40-50'
  • Sustaining a grip for 1-2 minutes of 40-50#
  • Guarding a “lift load” routinely of 120-140#

Hipaa Status

  • Has been determined as eligible for access to/use of PHI & EPHI based on work duties and responsibilities in compliance with ‘minimal necessary’ standards
