About the Role
The Occupational Therapist Aide supports the treatment and documentation of care for residents with impaired ability to perform at an independent level due to disease processes, under the supervision of an occupational therapist. This role participates in interdisciplinary team meetings as required.
Responsibilities
- Follow physicians’ orders for resident care and directions of the occupational therapist.
- Provide appropriate treatment to help residents maintain or attain the highest level of function possible within their physical abilities.
- Implement preventative measures and adaptive equipment to prevent decline in residents' function.
- Maintain timely and accurate resident reports as required by federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and third-party payers.
- Observe infection control procedures and ensure the safety of residents under supervision.
- Work cooperatively with residents, their representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants, and ancillary service providers.
- Adhere to all facility policies and procedures, including Residents' Rights, safety, and anti-discrimination policies.
- Protect the privacy and confidentiality of resident Protected Health Information.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
- Accept assigned duties cooperatively and perform them in an effective, timely, and professional manner.
- Support and respect other employees.
- Perform other related duties as directed by a supervisor.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common medical information.
- Ability to effectively communicate with residents, their families, and healthcare professionals.
- Strong reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
