About the role
The Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides direct rehabilitative care in occupational therapy under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT).
Responsibilities
- Implementing and following individualized treatment plans
- Documenting patient progress accurately and timely
- Assisting in patient care and ensuring safety and sanitation standards
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and team members
- Supporting community health initiatives when appropriate
- Demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and adherence to policies and confidentiality
- Participating in patient evacuation and maintaining dependable attendance
- Utilizing therapy software and maintaining accurate charts
- Exhibiting excellent customer service and positive attitude
Requirements
- NBCOT certification and current licensure in the applicable state
- Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program
- Preferably one year of experience in post-acute care or related setting
- CPR certification (upon hire or during orientation, and must remain current)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
- Ability to make independent decisions, demonstrate good body mechanics, and communicate effectively
- Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, and walking
- Understand and follow applicable laws, regulations, and facility policies
