Occupational Therapist Assistant

About the role

The Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) provides direct rehabilitative care in occupational therapy under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT).

Responsibilities

• Implementing and following individualized treatment plans
• Documenting patient progress accurately and timely
• Assisting in patient care and ensuring safety and sanitation standards
• Communicating effectively with patients, families, and team members
• Supporting community health initiatives when appropriate
• Demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and adherence to policies and confidentiality
• Participating in patient evacuation and maintaining dependable attendance
• Utilizing therapy software and maintaining accurate charts
• Exhibiting excellent customer service and positive attitude

Requirements

• NBCOT certification and current licensure in the applicable state
• Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program
• Preferably one year of experience in post-acute care or related setting
• CPR certification (upon hire or during orientation, and must remain current)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
• Ability to make independent decisions, demonstrate good body mechanics, and communicate effectively
• Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, and walking
• Understand and follow applicable laws, regulations, and facility policies
