About the role
This position ensures workplace compliance and initiates enforcement of state and federal occupational safety and health laws, regulations, and standards.
Responsibilities
- Inspect workplaces to ensure compliance with safety and health laws and regulations.
- Initiate enforcement actions against non-compliant employers.
- Interpret and apply fire, health, or safety regulations.
- Prepare narrative reports documenting factual findings of inspections or investigations.
- Substitute up to 12 credit hours in construction, engineering, fire, manufacturing, or occupational safety and health technologies for required experience.
- Substitute 30 semester credit hours for the required experience.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
- One year of experience in workplace inspection to ensure compliance and initiate enforcement of safety and health laws, regulations, and standards.
- Additional experience in the interpretation and application of fire, health, or safety regulations, and the preparation of narrative reports documenting factual findings of inspections or investigations may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
- Thirty semester credit hours to include twelve credit hours in construction, engineering, fire, manufacturing, or occupational safety and health technologies may be substituted for the required experience.
- Three or more years in a safety-related role and/or additional safety-related certifications such as, but not limited to, Graduate Safety Professional (GSP)/Associate Safety Professional (ASP), OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, and OSHA 30 for General Industry and/or Construction.
- A valid driver's license with less than 5 points.
