Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments and consultations for patients experiencing occupational health issues, injuries, and illnesses.
- Treat the patients utilizing first aid treatment methods listed in CFR 1904.
- Respond promptly to jobsite inquiries and triage appropriately for urgent situations.
- Discuss cases believed to need care beyond first aid with the manager of medical services.
- Evaluate and document work-related injuries and illnesses, providing appropriate recommendations and follow-up care instructions.
- Educate employees on occupational health risks, preventative measures, and wellness strategies through virtual platforms.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, jobsite management and safety teams, and employees to develop tailored care plans and coordinate medical services as needed.
- Respond to urgent care needs and emergencies, providing guidance and support to patients in crisis.
- Manage case coordination and return to work plans with providers.
- Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records (EHR), documenting all patient interactions, assessments, and treatment plans.
- Provide documentation to safety team.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, including licensing, confidentiality, and medical policies.
- Perform administrative tasks such as document retention for safety programs and managing stock counts of safety gear.
- Utilize SharePoint and Microsoft tools effectively for patient assessments, consultation documentation, and administrative tasks.
- Promote workplace safety initiatives and provide insight on ergonomics and health programs to employers.
- Aid in completing drug and alcohol screenings for pre-employment, random, and post-incident screenings.
- Aid in completing respirator fit tests and/or vision tests when needed.
- Participate in training and professional development to stay current with occupational health advancements and nursing standards.
Qualifications
- Registered Nursing degree (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- OR Emergency Medical Technician Basic/Paramedic Certification.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of medical experience, preferably in occupational health, telemedicine, or a related field.
- Certifications: Occupational Health Nurse (COHN), Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist (COHN-S), or similar certification preferred.
- Proficient in using Microsoft programs and electronic medical records (EMR).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex health information in an understandable manner.
- Strong patient-centered approach and ability to build rapport with diverse patients and teams.
