About the role
Provides Occupational Health and First Aid Case Management services at assigned Duke Energy locations. Services include assessing, planning, and delivering first aid care to all employees in a timely fashion, with a focus on the prevention of escalation to OSHA recordable events.
Responsibilities
- Assessing and planning first aid care for employees.
- Delivering first aid to employees during normal working hours and on-call afterhours.
- Assessing and managing employee medical conditions and job functions.
- Communicating with employees about health and wellness issues and making appropriate referrals.
- Performing hands-on ergonomic evaluations for employees.
- Supporting corporate Quick Fit stretching program.
- Documenting all medical examinations, tests, consultations, and evaluations.
- Maintaining confidentiality of employee medical files.
- Assessing and managing work-related injuries and illnesses.
- Traveling as needed to assess employees and support emergency deployments.
- Participating in safety meetings and trainings.
Requirements
- Associates degree in Nursing AND Two years of work experience as Occupational Health Nurse or two years hospital experience.
- Valid Registered Nurse license in state of practice AND Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification.
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable of ADA, FMLA, OSHA, and WC laws with ability to make sound medical decisions in each area.
- Knowledgeable of HIPAA requirements and handles confidential medical information appropriately.
- Experienced in use of computers, email, MS Word, MS Excel, and Occupational Health data programs.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision & outside help.
- Excellent people skills and high level of attention to detail.
Skills
- Knowledgeable of NRC regulations (Nuclear specific).
- Knowledgeable of OSHA requirements with ability to make sound medical decisions in each area.
- Experienced in use of computers for electronic Occupational Health data programs.
- Certifications in Audiometric and Spirometry testing.
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN).
