Occupational Health Nurse

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site occupational health services, including assessment, triage, and treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses
  • Administer first aid, medications, vaccinations, and health screenings as appropriate
  • Conduct health evaluations (e.g., fitness-for-duty, return-to-work exams)
  • Maintain accurate, confidential medical records in accordance with regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA, ADA, FMLA)
  • Serve as the Occupational Health point of contact on a variety of employee leave cases including FMLA, ADA accommodations, short-term/long-term disability, and company-specific leave programs
  • Serve as the Occupational Health point of contact, when needed, for employees navigating the medical aspect of leave processes, ensuring clear communication and support
  • Partner with external providers, clinics, and specialists to coordinate care as needed
  • Support audits and compliance reporting as required
  • Cook up with HR, legal, and third-party administrators to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies

  • Conduct periodic medical surveillance exams such as audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, and other required monitoring
  • Track and analyze employee health data to identify trends, early risk indicators, and potential occupational exposure
  • Participate with the Occupational Health program to promote health and wellness programs, including injury prevention and health education

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
  • 3+ years of clinical nursing experience (occupational health, medical case management, or related field preferred)
  • Knowledge of leave of absence regulations (FMLA, ADA, disability programs)
  • Strong assessment, clinical decision-making, and documentation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information

Qualifications

  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN/COHN-S) or Case Management (CCM) (desired)
  • Experience with disability management and return-to-work programs
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards
