About the role
The Occupational Health Nurse helps deliver programs and services that develop and maintain healthy and safe workplace environments for employees.
Responsibilities
- Assesses the needs of the employee population and identifies primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention and health promotion strategies to optimize health and prevent injuries and illnesses.
- Documents assessments, treatments, outcomes, work and disability status, screenings, and educational offerings in a thorough manner.
- Affords health screenings and health assessments (post-offer physical exams, wellness screenings, audiometric testing, vision screening, bloodborne pathogen exposure care and follow up, drug screening) to identify and monitor risks to the employee’s health.
- Offers health promotion incentives and educational materials to promote employee health and wellness.
- Communicates appropriate health information to the organization in a timely and professional manner, including work-related injury information, return to work status, laboratory tests, and drug screen results.
- Maintains clear and concise employee health records to meet the requirements of the department, the company, and any applicable standards or laws.
- Maintains and safeguards confidentiality of employee health information and health records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- No prior experience required.
Qualifications
- Licensure/Certification/Listing Required: Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a Compact state; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
