About the Role

Erlanger Health System is seeking a PRN Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to support the Employee Health Clinic. The provider will deliver comprehensive occupational and employee health services to Erlanger team members, promoting workforce wellness, workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and quality patient care. Responsibilities include participating in immunization programs, communicable disease surveillance, exposure evaluations, and wellness initiatives. The role serves as a resource for employees regarding injury prevention, occupational health concerns, and return-to-work recommendations.

Accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record is required, along with adherence to all applicable regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients for injury and illness.
  • Provide preliminary care to employees of client companies.
  • Conduct pre-employment physicals and surveillance examinations.
  • Develop and implement preventative healthcare practices and on-site occupational health services.
  • Tailor specific wellness initiatives for Workforce clients.
  • Interact with employees to assess and address their specific health and safety needs.
  • Uphold high ethical standards and practice within the scope defined by written protocols.
  • Complete medical records in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • For Nurse Practitioner candidates: Graduation from an accredited Master's or Doctoral Nurse Practitioner program.
  • For Physician Assistant candidates: Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program with a Master's degree.
  • Current Tennessee licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant, as applicable.
  • National certification and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • DEA registration preferred, if applicable to the scope of practice.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience required; occupational health and/or wellness experience preferred.
  • Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

Work Environment

The Practitioner will work under the supervision of the Medical Director and in collaboration with the Workforce Corporation Health Services Medical Director and Director. The range of services is defined by a written protocol developed jointly and signed by the Practitioner and the supervising physician.
