Occupational Health Coordinator
About the role
Nucor Steel Texas is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Occupational Health Coordinator. This is a professional position with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Deliver emergency medical services as a licensed Paramedic in an industrial setting; maintain readiness of all medical equipment, supplies, and emergency response systems.
- Manage onsite occupational health activities, including triage, follow-up care, and documentation; coordinate with external healthcare facilities and specialists for advanced care needs; support workers’ compensation case management and return to work processes.
- Assist in health-related safety initiatives, training, and preventive programs; lead the ERT rescue program; teach CPR and First Aid classes; administer the plant drug and alcohol testing program; manage occupational medical programs including administering audiograms and vision tests; qualify employees for respirator use through pulmonary function and fit testing; manage the industrial hygiene program.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and company health standards; participate in incident investigations and provide medical insight; maintain and manage employee health records; monitor and control inventory of health and safety supplies/equipment; organize, coordinate, and schedule plant-wide events and onsite clinics.
- Promote a culture of health, safety, and well-being across the facility; build strong relationships with teammates to encourage early reporting and proactive care.
Requirements
- Currently Nationally Registered or Texas-certified EMS/Paramedic certification, and/or an active Texas Nursing license.
- Minimum three (3) years EMS/Paramedic or emergency care nursing, and industrial/occupational health experience.
- Must currently live within 30 miles of the mill or be willing to relocate within 30 miles of the mill.
- May not have any relatives employed by Nucor Steel Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
- General knowledge of Workers Compensation, OSHA, ADA, and FMLA.

This position requires after-hours support and willingness to travel. Candidates must be willing to further their education in areas such as advanced emergency medical training and OSHA training if there is no previous significant work experience in those areas. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.; Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
