Responsible for performing delegated clinical and administrative duties, specifically direct support to primary care providers and some direct care to patients. Works in partnership with other team members to achieve clinic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties under the direction of the physician or nurse in examination and treatment of patients, including:
    • Provide clinic services such as TB skin tests and administration of prescribed medication
    • Draw blood, give injections, administer and read skin tests, administer immunizations and vaccinations, obtain laboratory specimens
    • Prepare patient for doctor examination, position instruments and equipment, and assist physician
    • Take medical history of patients and check vital signs
    • Schedule appointments and maintain x-ray and medical records
  • Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and back-office logs (daily/monthly)
  • Check oxygen tank and crash cart supplies
  • Assist with prescription refills
  • Maintain cleanliness and disinfection of exam rooms and lab areas, autoclave instruments
  • Stock exam rooms and track medical supplies to order when low
  • Participate in and help implement quality improvement directives
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings
  • Pick up vaccines and medical supplies as needed
  • Demonstrate and uphold CCCHC’s principle of providing quality health and human services to medically underserved and low-income populations in a culturally sensitive manner
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Certified Licensed Medical Assistant required
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and communicate clearly and concisely
  • Ability to plan, organize, work well under pressure, take initiative, and be flexible and cooperative
  • Self-motivated and independently productive
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information and company records
  • Ability to work effectively with employees and managers
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Proficiency in PC applications, including email, Microsoft Excel, Word, internet, and networking devices
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safe work practices, company policies, and job safety regulations
  • Knowledge of CHDP guidelines, Immunizations schedule, and AAP periodicity table
  • Dependable transportation, automobile insurance, and a current CA Driver License
