About the Role
At VIPcare, we specialize in primary care for patients 65+ and are dedicated to providing 5-star service that prioritizes patient care and outcomes. The Regional MA Float is a clinical role responsible for both administrative and clinical tasks, supporting physicians and ensuring positive patient experiences. This is a safety-sensitive position involving direct patient care and medication administration. The role requires travel within the region (The Villages / Wildwood / Lady Lake area) 85% of the time, with the home office located in The Villages Fenny. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
Responsibilities
- Greet and prepare patients for provider examination by obtaining patient history, chief complaint, current medications, medical history, allergies, surgical history, family history, social history, and preventative medicine reviews.
- Take patients' vitals and record information in the patient electronic medical record (EMR).
- Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and procedures as directed.
- Maintain complete and detailed records of patients’ information in the ER.
- Handle front-desk operations, including answering phones, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, addressing routine inquiries, and triaging calls.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or providers’ instructions to patients.
- Prepare patients and rooms for examination.
- Complete patient phone calls for proactive care coordination, medication reminders, appointment reminders, transitional care management, and document telephone encounters.
- Provide patient and provider support during procedures by handing instruments or equipment to the physician.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment after use; dispose of contaminated supplies.
- Administer oral and injectable medications, irrigate eyes and ears, dress and bandage wounds, start and monitor IV infusions, and assist with procedures as requested.
- Perform in-office diagnostic tests, including eye exams, electrocardiographs, oxygen administration, pulse oximetry, peak flow, and inhalation treatments.
- Perform in-office CLIA-waived lab tests, including quality controls, lab-related logs, PT/INR testing using CoaguChek/Coag Sense, and glucose testing using a glucometer.
- Monitor disposable inventory and order medical supplies and pharmaceuticals as needed.
- Draw blood and process specimens for send-out.
- Provide patient education as directed by the provider.
- Assist with front-office tasks, including patient check-in/out, referrals, prescription medication management, and inbound/outbound telephone calls.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of office medications and medical supplies.
- Assist in onboarding and training new team members.
- Travel within the region 85% of the time.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred (RMA or CMA).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
- CPR certification preferred.
- IV Start Certification preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred (knowledge of collection methods, testing, bleeding times, donor blood collection, bedside testing, and specimen preparation).
- Knowledge of medical coding preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA preferred.
- Working knowledge of common prescription medications for the patient population assigned.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with electronic medical records.
- Excellent telephone and switchboard etiquette.
- Proficient with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for real-time collaboration.
Physical Requirements
- Full range of body motion, including handling and transferring patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling, and reaching at arm’s length and overhead for prolonged periods in a clinic setting.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and move patients and medical equipment as needed.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 15 lbs.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Ability to operate a computer and telephone.
- Must have own means of transportation.

Pay
Pay Range: USD $18.00 - USD $25.00 per hour.
