About the role
The successful candidate will be an ambitious, self-directed individual capable of contributing significantly to the design work of OBRA Architects. They should have a minimum of eight (8) years of experience, a five-year Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, and a strong commitment to professional quality.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity
- Collaborate with the firm’s principals to contribute to the design work
- Ensure adherence to NYC and international building codes and construction standards
- Handle project management, detail and design development, construction documents, and construction administration
- Supervise site work and manage permit filings, code research, zoning analysis, and regulatory approvals
- Communicate effectively with clients, prepare contract documentation, and manage project schedules
- Coordinate with consultants and lead teams
- Provide technical detailing and consultant coordination
Requirements
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in architecture
- A five-year Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
- Commitment to professional quality and authenticity in architecture
- Understanding of NYC and international building codes and construction standards
- Ability to manage multiple projects of varying sizes and complexities
- Experience in project management, detail and design development, construction documents, and construction administration
- Experience in permitting processes, code research, zoning analysis, and securing approvals from regulatory agencies
- Strong communication skills, including client communications, contract documentation, and project scheduling
- Experience in team leadership, technical detailing, and consultant coordination
