OB Technician - Labor and Delivery (Per Diem, Variable Shift)

Located in a tight-knit community in Kings County, Adventist Health Hanford has been serving the Central Valley since 1965. Responsibilities
- Provides assistance in providing patient care during labor, delivery and recovery.
- Performs surgical scrub duties, maintains acceptable levels of supplies, and provides turnover of patient areas.
- Assists in the operating room with obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN) related surgery.
- Assists with patient care before and after surgery.
Requirements
- Education and Work Experience: High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Licenses/Certifications: Surgical Technician or Obstetrical Technician certification: Preferred Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Facility Specific License/Certifications: AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS: Required
Essential Functions
- Assists in preparation of patient rooms.
- Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedure utilizing aseptic technique, and checking integrity of sterile packaging.
- Assists the surgical team during operative procedures, providing needed supplies and instruments in a timely manner.
- Participates in the timeout on each case.
- Assist nursing staff in deliveries as directed by nurse: preparation, positioning, transports, transfer and discharge of patient.
- Collections urinalysis (UA) specimens. Applies fetal monitoring equipment. Takes and records maternal vital signs, weight, height and intake & output (I&O) measurements.
- Performs personal care services and assists with activities of daily living for patients in providing general care.
- Prepares, positions, transports, transfers and discharges patient.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
