About the role
The Department of OB/GYN at Denver Health Medical Center (DHMC) is recruiting a skilled OB/GYN Hospitalist physician interested in resident and fellow education to join our team. We seek candidates whose clinical experience, dedication to teaching, interest in research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to excellence. The position offers full-scope practice in a multidisciplinary, inclusive, collaborative team with opportunities for leadership roles and professional development.
DHMC is a 525-bed teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation and a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The department delivers over 4,000 patients per year—nearly a third of all births in Denver—and performs over 1,300 inpatient and outpatient gynecologic procedures annually. We serve a diverse patient population, with most patients identifying as Hispanic/Latina and speaking over 23 different languages.
Responsibilities
- Act as attending physician or independent provider covering Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Obstetric Emergency Department, gynecology consults, and urgent/emergent gynecology procedures.
- Share responsibility with the on-call OB/GYN attending in assisting with concurrent deliveries, obstetrical emergencies, and patient care.
- Provide labor and delivery management, supervision of resident physicians, Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs), Family Medicine providers, medical students, and other learners.
- Deliver hands-on clinical care in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Gynecology, and Obstetrical ED.
- Support the hospital and department’s mission to provide high-quality, evidence-based patient care.
Schedule
- A full-time physician will have a monthly schedule of 12–14 clinical shifts, each lasting 10 hours (7am–5pm) or 14 hours (5pm–7am).
- Shifts are a mix of day and night, with emphasis on night coverage.
- Scheduling can be flexible or fixed, including options such as 24-hour shifts, 3 inpatient night shifts per week, or 2 inpatient night shifts plus 1 daytime weekend shift.
Academic affiliation and medical education
DHMC serves as one of the three clinical sites for the University of Colorado OB/GYN residency program, training 9 residents per year. The department is also the clinical site for multiple medical programs, including the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Emergency Medical Services. All faculty hold full-time academic appointments at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. The department has launched a new OB/GYN Hospitalist Fellowship, with the first fellow starting in summer 2025.

Qualifications
- MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited OB/GYN residency training program.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible (certification required within 3 years) by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
- Eligible for licensure in Colorado and for privileges at Denver Health Medical Center.
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in an inclusive environment.

- Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
- Ability to manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
- Strong oral and written communication, listening, and social skills.

- Computer skills required.
Pay
$273,500.00 – $345,400.00 per year.
