This OB/GYN Hospitalist position is shared between Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center in Gresham, OR and Randall Children’s/Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, OR, offering the unique opportunity to work in both a collaborative community setting and a high-risk teaching service in close collaboration with Maternal Fetal Medicine.
Responsibilities
- Cover the Family Birth Center at Legacy Mount Hood, including high-risk and unassigned patients, while working closely with a 24/7 in-house CNM who manages low-risk OB patients and first assists on C-sections.
- Collaborate with LMG Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians, who provide clinic presence during the week and facilitate transfers to Randall Children’s for higher-level care.
- Support the inpatient needs of the LMG Maternal Fetal Medicine service at Randall Children’s Hospital and supervise Family Medicine and OB/GYN residents from Oregon Health Sciences University.
- Provide backup to the employed Certified Nurse Midwifery practice, cover unassigned labor/triage patients, and assist private practice OB/GYN colleagues as needed (e.g., C-section assisting).
- Handle Emergency Department and inpatient gynecologic consults and emergencies (e.g., miscarriage, ovarian torsion, ectopic pregnancy) at both hospitals.
- Work in hospitals with 24/7 in-house Anesthesia coverage.
Requirements
- Graduate of a four-year U.S. Medical School or equivalent with residency completed in OB/GYN.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in OB/GYN.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Oregon.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
Skills
- Full OB scope for both low and high-risk pregnancies, including NSVD, operative vaginal delivery, cesarean section, management of third-stage labor, hemorrhage, level 1 ultrasound, repair of episiotomy and lacerations, and VBAC.
- Gynecology procedures, including D&C, minor and major laparoscopy with adnexal surgery (oophorectomy, cystectomy, salpingectomy, ectopic), and tubal ligation (laparoscopic and postpartum).
Schedule
- Shifts are either 12 or 24 hours, starting at 7 am, with in-house call rooms available.
- Weekend shifts and holidays are split evenly among the group on a rotating schedule.
Pay
USD $177.88 per hour.
