About the Role
The OBGYN Social Worker provides comprehensive psychosocial assessment, intervention, and support services to patients and their families within the Obstetrics and Gynecology department. This role focuses on addressing the social, emotional, and practical needs of patients throughout their reproductive health journey, including pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, gynecological conditions, and family planning. The social worker collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure holistic patient care and facilitate access to necessary resources.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates skill in effective communication.
- Works independently and exhibits flexibility in decision making and prioritizing assignments.
- Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with all members of the team and community agencies.
- Participates in case review to facilitate an interdisciplinary approach to hospital care.
- Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive information including patients, associates, and the Health System.
- Uses social work theory and practice models to guide care plans of patients.
- Proactively resolves problems, recommends, and implements continuous quality improvement.
- Completes assessments appropriate to the presentation of the patient.
- Completes safety planning with patients as needed.
- Provides linkages and referrals to community resources as needed.
- Understands and complies with hospital-level and department-level policies and procedures.
- Exhibits appropriate behavioral role modeling.
- Manages day-to-day assignments.
- Participates in health systems and community committees.
Requirements
- Master’s in Social Work (MSW) is required.
- Preferred experience in hospital social work.
- 2 years’ experience in the social work field.
Qualifications
- LMSW preferred.
- MSW with NY state licensure within 12 months accepted.
Pay
Pay range: $30.00 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay based on experience.
