This position may be based in any city in Texas with an OAG Child Support Division office. Regardless of primary duty point, the candidate must collaborate with relevant stakeholders throughout the state, and some travel to and from Austin and other worksites throughout the state for in-person meetings will be necessary.

About the role

Serves as a consultant to devise training plans that reflect the goals of the respective Director and/or Office Managers including conducting training needs assessments, developing training plans, and developing and conducting training for staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develops needs-analysis instruments and conducts assessment of Child Support Division (CSD) Regions training needs, and presents interpretive reports to Director and/or Office Managers; recommends training plans that support CSD goals; conducts in-class skill/task analysis
  • Formulates, implements, and monitors training plans to meet specific needs of the region
  • Consults with Director and Training Section to resolve training issues/problems and makes recommendations for resolution
  • Designs and develops course materials, including researching the topics, consulting with subject matter experts, and developing course objectives, manuals, exercises, and other training materials; ensures course content reflects current and accurate information that corresponds with the CSD policies and procedures, and state and federal legal requirements
  • Conducts orientation, classroom, on-the-job, and special needs training sessions to include conducting and facilitating skill sharing workshops for the region’s staff
  • Serves as the subject matter expert in one or more of the areas of the Child Support Program
  • Performs administrative tasks to include devising training schedules/calendars and maintaining class and student information on the Learning Management System
  • Designs evaluation approach and evaluates the effectiveness of training programs
  • Designs and prepares distance-learning products and online lesson development
  • Attends professional development training
  • Performs related work as assigned
  • Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions
  • Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule
  • Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information
  • Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity
  • Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG workspace within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave)
  • Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
  • Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
  • Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%

Requirements

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis: full-time Child Support Program, customer service or training

Experience: Two (2) additional years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: full-time Child Support Program or training

Skills

  • Skill in applying adult education principles, practices, and techniques
  • Skill in comprehending and explaining complex procedures to a variety of audiences, ranging from peer specialists and users to mid-level managers
  • Skill in formulating learning objectives and describing optional means for accomplishing them
  • Skill in designing and evaluating training curricula
  • Skill in planning and budgeting for various training programs
  • Skill in using a personal computer for data entry/retrieval and word processing
  • Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
  • Skill in effective oral and written communication
  • Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
  • Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: Microsoft Office Suite, WordPerfect, and HTML
  • Knowledge: child support policies, procedures, and processes, working knowledge of Children Are My Priority system (ChAMP), subject matter expert in one or more areas of the Child Support Program
  • Other Language: Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak Spanish
