About the Role
Recruit eligible youth for the Job Corps Program through community outreach, partnerships, and public events. Responsible for meeting departmental and center goals, conducting applicant orientations and interviews, and managing applicant files. Coordinate travel arrangements for applicants and perform quality assurance checks on all files. Assess graduates' and former trainees' placement readiness, provide referrals, and ensure timely placement in jobs, military service, or further education. Promote job development through direct employer and agency contacts. Model appropriate employability skills, maintain accountability, and foster a safe, respectful environment for staff and students.
Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach activities in communities, agencies, American Job Centers, and public events to recruit eligible youth.
- Conduct orientation and interviews with applicants, including parents for minors.
- Perform applicant file procedures, including data entry and document scanning.
- Participate in departmental meetings and coordinate with centers to support applicants in travel arrangements.
- Perform Quality Assurance Checks on all applicant files.
- Assess graduates' and former trainees' placement readiness and provide referrals and support services.
- Ensure timely placement and retention of assigned graduates in quality jobs, military service, or further education.
- Promote job development through direct contact with employers, One-Stops, JTPA, and State Employment Agencies.
- Communicate and model appropriate CSS and employability skills.
- Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property, and adhere to safety practices.
- Foster a safe, harassment-free environment at the center.
- Attend all required staff training opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Above average public speaking skills and experience.
- Above average verbal and written communication skills.
- Above average problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Computer literacy, specifically in Internet, email, and Word Perfect/MS Word.
- Ability to work some evening hours and periodic weekends.
- Ability to travel periodically.
- Four years’ experience working with youths ages 16-24.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Valid State Driver’s License.
Qualifications
15 semester hours of psychology is preferred.
