About the Role
Recruit eligible youth for the Job Corps Program through community outreach, agency partnerships, and public events. Responsibilities include meeting departmental and center goals, conducting applicant orientations and interviews, managing applicant files, and coordinating travel arrangements for applicants. Additionally, you will perform quality assurance checks, assess graduates' placement readiness, and ensure timely placement in jobs, military service, or further education. Promote job development through direct employer and agency contacts, model appropriate employability skills, and maintain a safe, respectful environment for staff and students.
Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach activities in communities, agencies, American Job Centers, and public events to recruit eligible youth.
- Meet departmental and center goals and objectives.
- Conduct orientation and interviews with applicants, including parents for minors.
- Perform applicant file procedures, including data entry and document scanning.
- Participate in departmental meetings and coordinate with centers to support applicants in travel arrangements.
- Perform Quality Assurance Checks on all applicant files.
- Assess graduates' and former trainees' placement readiness and provide referrals and support services.
- Ensure timely placement and retention of assigned graduates in quality jobs, military service, or further education.
- Promote job development through direct contact with employers, One-Stops, JTPA, and State Employment Agencies.
- Model appropriate CSS and employability skills.
- Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property, adhering to safety practices.
- Foster a conducive, harassment-free environment at the center.
- Attend all required staff training opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Above average public speaking skills and experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Internet, email, and Microsoft Word.
- Ability to work some evening hours and periodic weekends.
- Ability to travel periodically.
- Four years’ experience working with youths ages 16-24.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 15 Semester hours of psychology is preferred.
- Valid State Driver’s License.
