O&M Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled inspections, preventive maintenance activities, and performance evaluations on solar and energy storage assets.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and communication-related issues affecting system operation and efficiency.
• Perform corrective maintenance and emergency repair work to restore system functionality.
• Utilize monitoring and control platforms to review system data, identify abnormalities, and recommend corrective actions.
• Complete detailed service reports, maintenance records, and documentation associated with field activities.
• Maintain compliance with all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.
• Support commissioning activities for newly installed solar and battery storage projects.
• Participate in quality assurance and quality control inspections to ensure installations meet project standards.
• Assist with equipment modifications, upgrades, and implementation of engineering change requests.
• Execute lockout/tagout procedures and ensure safe isolation of electrical equipment prior to maintenance activities.
• Perform electrical testing, diagnostics, and verification using appropriate metering and testing equipment.
• Work on electrical systems operating up to 600VAC and photovoltaic systems up to 1000VDC.
• Interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, equipment manuals, and project documentation.
• Provide mentorship and technical assistance to less experienced field personnel when needed.
• Support site audits, condition assessments, and performance optimization initiatives.
• Travel to project locations as required to support maintenance and operational needs.

Required Qualifications

• Achieve an Associate degree in Engineering, Electrical Technology, Renewable Energy, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
• Hold a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Be able to work independently with minimal supervision in a field environment.
• Have experience using electrical testing instruments and diagnostic equipment.
• Understand commercial electrical systems and troubleshooting methodologies.
• Know applicable safety practices, electrical codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Be capable of climbing ladders, accessing rooftops, and performing physically demanding tasks.
• Be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Obtain a licensed electrician's license.
• Hold NABCEP certification or similar renewable energy industry credentials.
• Have experience supporting commercial-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS).
• Be familiar with SCADA, EMS, DAS, or other monitoring and controls platforms.
• Have previous experience working with inverters, power conversion systems, or utility-scale electrical equipment.
• Know computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and mobile field service applications.
• Obtain OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
• Have prior experience in commercial solar operations and maintenance, power generation, or utility environments.
