About the Role
Working under direct supervision and at an apprentice level, you will perform service work, preventative maintenance, and repairs alongside a Senior O&M Specialist on specialized building systems such as mechanical, electrical/electronic, hydraulics, carpentry, or machine servicing. This role supports the mission of caring for our community by ensuring operational excellence in healthcare facilities.
Responsibilities
- Assists in performing and overseeing work orders for preventative maintenance and repairs on building systems at an apprentice level.
- Determines the nature of problems and ensures repairs are completed in a timely and quality manner at an apprentice level.
- Performs apprentice-level maintenance incidental to system operations.
- Models appropriate behavior aligned with MLH’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of general maintenance and operations experience.
- Valid Class D Driver’s License (Tennessee required; Arkansas or Mississippi preferred).
- Ability to pass a DOT background check based on work facility.
Skills & Abilities
- Basic knowledge of trade fundamentals sufficient to handle basic service and repairs.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with others.
- Basic arithmetic calculation skills.
- Ability to work from drawings, diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Ability to organize tasks and maintain workflow control.
Physical Demands
- Occasional outdoor work and travel to other locations.
- Ability to react quickly in emergency situations.
- Physical activities include squatting, bending, twisting, crawling, climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- Heavy work: exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
- Close visual acuity required for tasks such as preparing data, transcribing, viewing computer terminals, and extensive reading.
