About the role
The NY/NJ Construction Field Services Lead is a professional who leads the development and growth of Construction Management Services within the NY/NJ Water Business Group. This role requires coordination, monitoring, and improvement of technical competencies of construction management staff, focusing on meeting client needs and market drivers.
Responsibilities
- Advance business development strategies and pursue new clients and projects.
- Manage client relationships and provide leadership in addressing client issues.
- Develop and pursue new clients and projects.
- Support selected pursuits through client relationship development and/or through development of strategy, tactics, value-added technical differentiation, and participation in pursuit activities.
- Lead HDR’s branding in the NY/NJ area by engaging in professional organizations aligned to the market and serving as a company role-model in business and community organizations.
- Coordinate staffing/recruiting plans for key hires and assist leadership as necessary with technical or project management hires.
- Mentor staff and support the development of technical experts and business class leaders.
- Identify needs and opportunities for new and improved technical services and products to maximize the breadth, depth, and effectiveness of the practice.
- Support project staffing and resourcing decisions, workload, and Market Sector utilization.
- Implement effective quality assurance and quality control reviews.
- Manage business class staff, workload, and projects and participate in delivery of project services to meet client expectations.
- Perform construction management activities, including development procurement-construction schedules, construction subcontract scopes, review of subcontract terms and conditions, performance of constructability and value engineering reviews, construction estimating and schedule reviews, and project construction performance presentations.
- Coordinate, expedite, and review construction submittals.
- Control the project budget and schedule.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with the Health and Safety Program through communication and inspections.
- Prepare and update project schedules, pay requests, progress reports, budgets, and schedule management reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, Sciences, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience.
- Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values.
- Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience.
- Works cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, Sciences, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Program management experience consistent with one of the following requirements:
- A minimum of three (3) years of program management experience in a deputy role to the Program Manager for the delivery of one or more programs, with a cumulative capital value of $200 million or more, or;
- A minimum of five (5) years of program management experience as a Project Manager or Project Controls Manager for the delivery of one or more programs, each with a capital value of $200 million or more, or;
- A minimum of ten (10) years of project management experience as a Project Manager directing a multi-disciplinary team for the delivery of at least two (2) projects, each with a capital value of $50 million or more.
- Strong leadership skills with experience building a cohesive team culture and managing team members in various locations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable presenting to client executives and in front of a large audience in a public setting.
- Management experience with the implementation of projects or programs using alternative and collaborative delivery methods, including design-build (DB), progressive design-build (PDB), and/or construction management at-risk (CMAR).
- Familiarity with the various tools used to manage large programs - PMIS, CMIS, scheduling, cost control, document management, risk management, asset management, dashboard analytics, etc.

- Preparing and updating project schedules, pay requests, progress reports, budgets, and schedule management reports.
