NX Designer

About the role

Location: Batavia, IL. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to support the Design/Drafting Group at Fermilab. This position will create detailed mechanical designs and drawings using NX1980 and Teamcenter, while working closely with engineering teams on design development and project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Create advanced 3D CAD models and 2D mechanical drawings using NX1980.
• Apply GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Perform tolerance and stack-up calculations, layouts, detailing, and design development.
• Research and evaluate design solutions, components, and materials.
• Work closely with engineers to support project schedules and deliverables.
• Manage 3D models and 2D drawings through Teamcenter.
• Deliver accurate, high-quality work within deadline-driven projects.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience using NX with Teamcenter.
• 5+ years of recent Mechanical Designer experience.
• Strong proficiency with NX1980 CAD.
• Advanced 3D modeling and 2D drawing experience.
• Strong knowledge and application of GD&T.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines.
• Must be able to successfully demonstrate NX1980 proficiency during the interview process.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week, between 7:00 AM-5:00 PM (onsite)
