Role Summary
The Alterations & Repair Specialist II is a highly skilled technical expert responsible for executing complex garment restoration and high-precision alterations. This role requires mastery in tailoring, advanced garment construction techniques, and exceptional craftsmanship—particularly in replacing invisible zippers on delicate and special-occasion garments. Specialists in this role ensure that every repaired garment is returned to its original aesthetic, structural integrity, and quality standards. This position plays a critical part in maintaining customer satisfaction, brand reputation, and production workflow by delivering premium-quality repairs consistently and efficiently.
Role Responsibilities
- Perform expert-level invisible zipper replacements on a variety of fabrics and garment types, including high-end and specialty dresses.
- (Skills assessment required.) Execute advanced hand-sewing and machine-sewing techniques, including detailed restoration work and complex repairs.
- Assess garment condition and determine the most effective repair strategy to achieve a high-quality, customer-ready finish.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of garment construction, fabric behavior, and structural reinforcement.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment while maintaining strong individual ownership of repairs.
- Maintain an organized, efficient, and safety-focused workspace.
- Consistently meet or exceed productivity and quality metrics.
- Communicate effectively with leadership to support workflow, provide feedback, and ensure repair accuracy.
- Display adaptability, professionalism, and a solutions-oriented mindset in a fast-paced production environment.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support operational goals.
Role Qualifications
- Demonstrated mastery of precision tailoring, including invisible zipper replacement, delicate restoration, and specialty garment handling.
- Strong proficiency across diverse machine types, with a willingness to further develop industrial sewing machine expertise.
- Keen attention to detail with the ability to meet high accuracy expectations under time constraints.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to operate effectively both independently and within a team.
