Nutrition Services - Production Associate

About the role

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the general supervision of the Food Executive Director, the Production Associate assists in preparation and delivery of meals for the Food Program.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils, and dishes
• Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage
• Take and record the temperature of food and food storage areas
• Operate packaging machinery
• Pack and place food in refrigerators for storage or in trucks for transport
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read, speak and understand English
• Some knowledge of food service and kitchen procedures is preferred
• Ages 18 and older
• Work a flexible part-time schedule

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Ability to perform activities which require sustained concentration and attention
• Ability to perform tasks that are repetitive
• Ability to lift at least 30 pounds
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and give consistent and accurate product

Schedule

The work schedules may vary per the workload for that day but the typical hours are Monday - Friday starting at either 7:30 am or 9:00 am and ending between 1 pm and 4 pm.

Pay

$16.00 per hour
