Job Summary
Supervise and train nutrition service assistants in food preparation and quality of three meals a day. Maintain the high quality of sanitation guidelines and customer service for a food service operation. Oversee the financial accountability of the building nutrition service operation.
Description
- Supervise, train and schedule nutrition service assistants and substitutes on topics including USDA dietary guidelines and standardized recipes, positive customer service, cashiering, professionalism, sanitation, dress codes, safety and batch-cooking.
- Maintain proper labor hours for cost-control purposes.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships among nutrition personnel, provide direction regarding customer service, and promote positive working relationships with students, staff, and building principals.
- Complete daily required paperwork and accurate computer data entries.
- Oversee kitchen personnel in training and proper usage/knowledge of all kitchen equipment to ensure all equipment is in proper working order.
- Oversee cashiering, calculate and prepare bank deposits, reconcile student lunch accounts and collect monies; and complete all end of day procedures.
- Monitor preparation of special program snacks and meals.
- Keep point of service CAFS program up to date and in compliance with USDA guidelines.
- Order all necessary groceries and supplies for kitchen.
- Receive deliveries following correct procedures.
- Interview and complete reference checks for new staff.
- Sign and submit payroll time cards, vendor bills, production sheets, labor forms, update computer end of month program and back up discs.
- Prepare inventory of food and supplies and maintain a proper inventory.
- Generate job performance evaluations based on documentation and yearly progress in goal achievement.
Qualifications
- 2 years experience in food preparation or nutrition services supervision or management.
- High School Diploma/Trade School.
- Operating knowledge of nutrition services equipment.
- Basic knowledge of cooking and interpreting recipes.
- CDE Training Management preferred.
- Sanitation certificate required.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
