Nutrition Services Associate Elementary 5.5 hours/day
5.5 hours per day during school-day hours. Position begins at the start of the 2026-27 school year.
About the role
Comply with the food service manager's instructions on production, preparation, and service of food. Follow department standards to account for meals (reimbursement and à la carte sales). Adhere to food service manager's instructions for clean-up of the kitchen, serving area, cafeteria, and dishroom. Maintain standards of safety in handling, preparation, storing, and serving food. Operate computerized point-of-sale equipment to process students through breakfast and lunch lines. Work efficiently and cooperate with other employees. Attend job-related training classes and workshops. Interact with students in a positive and professional manner. Other duties as assigned. Reports to the Nutrition Services Manager.
Responsibilities
- Follow food service manager’s instructions for food production, preparation, and service
- Account for meals (reimbursement and à la carte sales) according to department standards
- Clean kitchen, serving area, cafeteria, and dishroom as directed
- Maintain safety standards in food handling, preparation, storage, and service
- Operate computerized point-of-sale equipment for student meal processing
- Work efficiently and collaboratively with other employees
- Attend job-related training classes and workshops
- Interact with students in a positive and professional manner
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Basic arithmetic, reading, and writing skills
- Ability to safely lift up to 40 pounds, stand on hard surfaces for 3–6 hours, and perform bending, twisting, and repetitive motions
- Experience in institutional food service operations and/or school food service is helpful
- Must complete Serve Safe course and pass exam with 70% accuracy or higher within one year of hire
- Previous knowledge of point-of-sale systems preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency working with a culturally, ethnically, racially, and socioeconomically diverse school community is preferred
Pay
Nutrition Services Associate: $20.91 – $23.42 per hour (based on the 2026-27 contractual agreement).
