About the Role
This is a paraprofessional entry-level position in nutrition programs.
Responsibilities
- Collect anthropometric and hematological measurements.
- Perform data entry accurately.
- Explain and issue food benefits.
- Provide and document basic information on available nutrition and health services within WIC.
- Reviews and creates nutrition goals with clients.
- Refer participants to other health and social services and document such referrals.
- Promote and support breastfeeding.
- Responds to Public Health emergencies as assigned by the Health Department.
- Performs other duties as required or requested.
- Participates in in-service training to expand knowledge of nutrition as well as program operation.
- Acts as backup to the WIC Call Center during high call volume days.
- Typing care plans.

- Understand and interpret the objectives of the nutrition intervention program.
- Absess need for referral to other Health Department services and make appropriate referrals.
- Communicate effectively through phone calls, email, messaging, and faxing
- Keep accurate and legible records.
- Respond to Public Health emergencies.
Requirements
- Completion of high school or equivalent G.E.D.
- Six (6) months experience in a nutrition intervention program or six (6) months training in food and nutrition, or health science.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Qualifications
- Must be a resident of Allegheny County within 1 year.
Skills
- Valid automobile operator's license and the use of a company vehicle/automobile during working hours.

Pay
Hourly: $20.60
Annual: $42,848.00
Schedule
Full-Time, Entry Level.
