About the Role

This is a paraprofessional entry-level position in nutrition programs.

Responsibilities

  • Collect anthropometric and hematological measurements.
  • Perform data entry accurately.
  • Explain and issue food benefits.
  • Provide and document basic information on available nutrition and health services within WIC.
  • Reviews and creates nutrition goals with clients.
  • Refer participants to other health and social services and document such referrals.
  • Promote and support breastfeeding.
  • Responds to Public Health emergencies as assigned by the Health Department.
  • Performs other duties as required or requested.
  • Participates in in-service training to expand knowledge of nutrition as well as program operation.
  • Acts as backup to the WIC Call Center during high call volume days.
  • Typing care plans.

    • Understand and interpret the objectives of the nutrition intervention program.
    • Absess need for referral to other Health Department services and make appropriate referrals.
    • Communicate effectively through phone calls, email, messaging, and faxing
    • Keep accurate and legible records.
    • Respond to Public Health emergencies.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school or equivalent G.E.D.
  • Six (6) months experience in a nutrition intervention program or six (6) months training in food and nutrition, or health science.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Qualifications

  • Must be a resident of Allegheny County within 1 year.

Skills

  • Valid automobile operator's license and the use of a company vehicle/automobile during working hours.

Pay

Hourly: $20.60
Annual: $42,848.00

Schedule

Full-Time, Entry Level.
