About the role

The Nutrition Services Worker supports food service activities at an assigned location by preparing and serving food items to students and school personnel, and maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.

Responsibilities

  • Arrange food and beverage items at the request and direction of supervisors to serve students and staff efficiently.
  • Attend unit meetings, in-service training, workshops (e.g., Food Handler's Permit training, safety meetings) to gather information required for job functions.
  • Clean utensils, equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas (e.g., oven, refrigerator) to maintain sanitary conditions.
  • Cook food to meet mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements.
  • Estimate food preparation amounts and adjust recipes as needed to meet projected meal requirements and minimize waste.
  • Inspect food items and supplies (e.g., flour, serving trays) to verify quantity, quality, and specifications, and comply with mandated health standards.
  • Inventory food, condiments, supplies, and equipment at specified intervals to ensure availability for projected menu requirements.
  • Maintain equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas in a sanitary condition to comply with health standards.
  • Monitor kitchen and cafeteria areas to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment.
  • Perform functions of other nutritional services positions as requested (e.g., account technician, lead cook) to ensure adequate staff coverage.
  • Prepare food and beverage items (e.g., breakfast and lunch) to meet mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to notify supervisors of repair or replacement needs.
  • Serve one or more food items to meet mandated nutritional requirements or requests from students and school personnel.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.

Requirements

  • Age 16 or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Job-related experience is desired.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout a workday.
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 150 lbs. repeatedly throughout a workday.

Certificates

  • Food Handlers Permit.

Pay

$16.62 per hour.

Schedule

4 hours per day.
