Responsibilities
- Oversees the department’s nutrition programs to meet state guidelines for three senior centers and the Meals on Wheels (MOW) program.
- Trains staff on food safety, sanitation, portion sizes, and temperature control.
- Works closely with the Wellness Center café and MOW food vendors to maintain clear communication and address issues promptly.
- Uses Registered Dietitian Nutritionist expertise to create nutrition education materials, assist with menu planning and analysis, and partner with vendor dietitians.
- Conducts nutrition assessments, provides counseling for high-risk clients, and ensures therapeutic diets are provided as needed based on doctor’s orders or professional judgment.
Requirements
- Valid registration and license issued by Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Dietitian.
- Provisional license may be considered if another RDN on staff to supervise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Food Service, or related field.
- Three to five years of program, facilities, and personnel management experience in social services with a focus on older adults.
- Experience in the practice of food preparation and service, nutrition education, planning and analysis of menu.
- Knowledge of aging industry and previous work with the senior population.
- Must obtain ServSafe Certification within a year of hire.
- Licenses and Certifications: Must hold a valid registration and license issued by Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Dietitian. Provisional license may be considered if another RDN on staff to supervise.
