Performs a variety of food and guest service duties under general supervision. This role includes patient meal tray assembly and delivery, cashiering, food assembly, food serving, and cleaning. We treat our hospitals like hotels, employing professional chefs, culinary leaders, cooks, and nutrition care associates. This role supports a culture of hospitality while contributing to the well-being of patients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers and presents trays to patients using the standard process.
  • Performs food preparation functions according to system standards (e.g., prepares salads, sandwiches, vegetables, and fruit).
  • Follows standardized practices relating to Nutrition Services (e.g., dining experience, meal delivery, maintaining required stock levels).
  • Performs housekeeping functions including cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, floor care, and equipment (oven, fryer, hoods).
  • Performs accurate cash/credit transactions according to system standards and resolves basic customer service issues.

Qualifications

  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification is required by the first day of work.
  • One or more years of experience in customer service, food service, or patient care preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with modified diets (preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service (preferred).

Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment, and assess customer needs. Frequent interactions with customers requiring clear communication and quick understanding of spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues. Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment, including frequent computer and phone use. Ability to lift, transport, pull, and push equipment, including heavy items, and work on hands and knees or bend to set up and carry supplies. Must remain standing for long periods and tolerate temperature extremes (e.g., grill or refrigerator) and exposure to cleaning chemicals.

Schedule

  • Full Time, 40 hours per week.
  • 8-hour shifts, Sunday–Saturday (varying morning, afternoon, evening starts).
  • Shift Differential: Additional pay for hours worked during certain evening and weekend windows.
  • Holidays required.

Pay

Hourly rate: $17.68 - $22.99, dependent on experience.
