About the role

The Nutrition Care Associate coordinates and communicates all information related to patient meal service, reporting to the Lead Nutrition Care Associate, Food Service Supervisor, or Food Service Manager. The primary responsibility is interacting with and providing exceptional customer service to patients regarding order taking and delivering/collecting meals.

Responsibilities

  • Processes nutrition orders and tray tickets with 100% accuracy to ensure accurate and up-to-date nutritional needs are provided.
  • Manually enters patient’s menu selections for those with multiple diet restrictions, ensuring selections fall within nutritional parameters.
  • Communicates with supervisors, Lead Food Service Associates, Registered Dietitians, and Food Service Associates regarding patient preferences, diet education requests, poor intake, allergies, and special requests.
  • Uses CBORD Food Service Suite nutrition software proficiently to process orders and tray tickets accurately.
  • Maintains appropriate floor stock according to par levels and records usage accordingly.
  • Cross-references and manually enters patient diet allergies from the electronic medical record that do not interface with CBORD software.
  • Coordinates with Food Service Associates to ensure smooth departmental operations.
  • Multitasks in the diet office to ensure meal service runs efficiently and on time.
  • Calls patients to inform them of menu changes.
  • Maintains sufficient supplies of menus and forms in the office to facilitate efficient service.
  • Participates in and attends all department in-services to maintain department operating standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous nutrition office experience preferred but not required.
  • Dietetic Assistant Certification or Dietetic Technician Certification preferred but not required.
